It is well known that the heartfield is the strongest electromagnetic field in the body. And yet in the culture of the West we have been taught to neglect the cultivation of the heart and to instead reside in the brain-mind. If one lives with their brain bowing in service to their heart, then they are able to make decisions that are in harmony, connection, respect, and reverence to all beings. If one lives with their brain in service to only their mind, omitting the great wisdom of the heart, this can create and perpetuate a world of disconnection, selfishness and suffering.
Which world do you see? In each moment, which do you choose?
It is said that the longest distance is from the head to the heart. It is of utmost importance for each of us to continually make this journey of descent into our heart’s center. The heart field connects us with every cell in our body, and every star in the sky. It also connects us with every emotion, every joy, and every fear. That is why it takes courage to go there. We must be courageous to meet what is waiting for us — whether it be grief, sadness, rage, or unbearable tenderness. As Rumi says, “This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival.” With practice and presence, we cultivate our capacity to be with more.
This is first and foremost in regards to healing. It begins with listening, receiving, meeting, and feeling. There is so much to feel in the heart field, and we cannot feel it all at once. Nor can we feel it all alone. It takes time, discipline, devotion, practice, and safety. Once we are able to make this embodied descent into our center and stay there, we are able to open the eye of our heart, and see ourselves, and our reality, more clearly.
With this clarity, only then will the great blessing of Life, and our purpose in it, be revealed. With the eye of the heart’s clear seeing and courageous alchemy, all can heal and be healed.
